YOUTH
COACHING COURSE
The Academy’s pioneering Youth Coaching Course
(YCC), still the world’s only level 3 externally accredited
coaching course, which qualifies successful candidates as
adult life coaches and youth
coaches.
Have
the confidence and competence to
inspire
young people to shine
Consolidate
all your life experience and training with the guidance
of the market leaders and gain the highest level,
external accreditation for coaching in the
UK
Support young
people to transform their lives from:

There are so many people who
work with and or care for young people who are so
frustrated with their efforts to make any positive
difference in the lives of the young people they
genuinely care for (dare we say
love)
Imagine being
able to access and use tools that the most effective
coaches who work with celebrities and large corporate
organisations are using and being paid handsomely for
because they work.
Imagine being
able to utilise these to support your young people to
reconnect/ create and realise their
aspirations
This course was created
following the murder of a 15 year old boy
in East London in 2001. The whole of the year
11 group pioneered a personal and community development
process to support each other during such a challenging
period, led by Harry Singha, Chairman and Co founder of
the Academy
One young boy
of 16 asked Harry how he could become a
coach.
This inspired
Harry to create a course which, would cover everything
that other life coaching courses had and add to it the
essentials for coaching young people under
18
Harry along
with Bob Singha (Vice Chair and co-founder) dedicated the
next three months to create that course. The Youth
Coaching Course (YCC) was born, it was awarded a
level 3 accreditation by the Open College Network
(OCN), the highest level for any coaching
course!
There have been
a few versions since then as we continue to add value
both in the content and delivery. The latest versions
have had many additional bonuses including business
development tools to compliment any coach’s
skills set!
The course
delivery is designed to accommodate both face to face
immersion learning with self study and mentored practical
assessments over a period of between 6-12 months study
programme

Training – This will usually take
place over a 5 days residential. These comprehensive and
interactive days will immerse you with the essential
skills of Life and Youth Coaching. At the training you will be
introduced to your assigned mentor coach who will support
you throughout the course. S/he will be by an accredited
Youth Coach and or Experienced Accredited Life Coach and
graduate of the course. You will agree with your mentor a
study plan outlining intended completion dates for each
stage of the process
Practical
Sessions – Following the training you will be
coaching one fellow student for six sessions (telephone/face
to face), of which three sessions will be
mentored.
In addition you
will coach one young person (who will be allocated to
you) for six
sessions, of
which six sessions will be mentored. On completion of
these initial contracts
You will then
coach one further young person for six sessions, which
will be observed/listened to by your Mentor Coach for the
first, third and sixth sessions.
Post-Modular Assignments – For each
module there is an assignment which needs to be completed.
This can be presented either in a written essay of
approximately 1000 words or in a recorded 20-30 minute
audio/video presentation. You will need to submit these for
assessment as evidence of study. At least 25% of evidence
submitted needs to be written.
Reflective Essay – You are
required to submit a 3,000-word essay as evidence of your
learning throughout the course.
Reflective Journal – Your journal will
be a weekly (or more) record of your personal progress
throughout the course. This will not be required to be
submitted as evidence. Your Mentor Coach may recommend
shared learning to enter in your journal. it is recommended
that you continue to keep a journal beyond this course for
CPD purposes.
Viva – At the final stage you will be
given a questionnaire to complete before having a telephone
interview with the Course Tutor/Director to ensure all
criteria have been met. Following this your portfolio
is then submitted for internal and external
moderation.
What is
Youth Coaching
Simply put it
is the medium for facilitating the expression of young
people’s potential via the use of cutting edge and
ancient wisdom personal development tools.
Youth Coaching
is now becoming recognised as one of the most
effective ways to support
young people. Coaching increases self-awareness,
improves relationships, boosts emotional
intelligence and encourages individuals to find their own
solutions. The DFES and
the National College for School Leadership are producing
literature on the evidence of coaching in youth
establishments. The governments
transforming youth work agenda clearly states the
requirement for youth services to carry accreditation and
hence anyone considering coaching young people within
educational or youth establishments may not get a look in
without it.
Who are the Youth Coaching Academy?
The Academy are
the pioneers of Youth Coaching and have the only pool of
accredited youth and youth peer coaches.
As a not for
profit company focusing solely on the youth sector and
those who work with and care for them the Academy is able
to leverage partnerships with all key players in the
coaching arena. With a robust ethics committee and an
advisory board headed by our Patron Jamie Oliver the
Academy represents the standard it endorses of
Performance and Protection. The Academy
led by Harry Singha is at the forefront of creating
community coaching programmes where Youth/Youth Peer
Coaches provide sustainable youth coaching services for
their communities. This includes schools, Jamie Oliver’s
15 foundation, housing estates and mentoring
projects..
